We own three of these waffle irons and use them at least once a week for use in our B&B. They are heavy, long-lasting, and the waffles always pop off without sticking. We looked long and hard for a dependable waffle iron and this was the best we could find on the market. After several years of hard work, one gave up the ghost, but we replaced it with another Villaware. Recommended.
Description of VillaWare V2170 UNO 6 At-A-Time Waffler
The Uno ProPress Belgian waffle iron bakes six 4 x 3.5-in. waffles. Choose from one of seven brownness settings using the control. The waffle iron has a nonstick coating, an On/Off and ready-to-bake lights, a generous sized trough to catch spills and an extra thick grid. The cord wraps for neater storage.Perfect for large, family breakfasts, this waffler makes six golden brown, deep-pocketed Belgian waffles at a time. The waffle grids heats up quickly and evenly due to the extra-thick die-cast aluminum surface, and an adjustable control offers seven different browning temperatures for lighter or darker waffles. For safety, a red light remains on for the duration of your cooking time and a green light illuminates when the appliance has reached the desired heat (about 8 to 10 minutes). The commercial-style handle stays cool during cooking and presses straight down to completely enclose the lid over your waffles. A high-quality nonstick coating on the waffle grids ensures that waffles lift off easily and that the waffler is easy to clean. In addition, the waffler has a trough that catches any overflow batter during cooking and makes cleanup a little easier.
While the high-polish aluminum exterior on this appliance is beautiful and durable, it also heats up to the same temperature as the waffler's interior. The plastic-coated handle offers some protection from the heat, but cooks still must exercise caution to prevent burns from the lid or sides of the handle. The Uno Belgian waffler stands upright for storage but is still fairly large and heavy so cooks will want to ensure that they have adequate space for it.
